The world of home nutrition therapy is full of daily stress in addition to the stress of everyday life.

How do you cope with the added stress of being on home nutrition therapy? Are there certain things you do so that you aren't just surviving on home nutrition therapy but THRIVING!!!!

I make sure I'm around people who are supportive of our family, get a lot of rest and most of all take time to find the blessing in each day!

I find a great way to help with the stress is to have a support network of other parents of TPN and enteral kids.  They may not know exactly what I am going through, but they can relate to  the stress.  They can also be there to listen and to give advice if needed.  This has helped a lot so far.

I agree that finding the small blessings in each day helps keep the stress at bay.
I must admit diet coke and kettle chips work on the days that are especially hard.

My way of dealing with the stress has change over the years.  For 13 years, with Shawn our son, it was being with other parents dealing with the same thing, plus my family.

We all deal with it differently, over time, the stress just becomes normal, all part of life, with someone you love very much, on feeds, or TPN.  Now with my Husband on TPN, it is second nature to me.  It bring many memories of Shawn, which is good.  So far I feel the stress, but not like I did with Shawn, I seem to handle it differently, but it doesn't drive me crazy yet.  I just seem to roll with it now.

It great now that we have a place to go, and talk with people that are going thru the same, or close to the same thing.
